fight to get it back again

energy -- it seems as if it is boundless in my two little boys.  there is no slow speed for them.  it is either 0 (sleeping) or 100mph (hair on fire).  i get tired just trying to keep up...but again, i am not getting any younger.  i guess i could fight to try to relive my past or youth or whatever - but i really now just want to be able to show my joy for life and happiness every day (i just wish it were easier).

i truly hate the nights when my the boys have gone to sleep and i sit in my empty house, frightened by all of the creaks and groans which accompany the cooling of the midnight hour.  in the dead of winter, it really gets creepy when the cold winds blow and the house shakes with the chills from outside...that is when i really miss my friends, or at least my best friend.  i keep looking but, you know, it is hard for a single dad to put himself out there -- he has to be the hero every day...even though he has insecurities enough for ten(tin) men.

i am not going to look anymore -- if you want to know more, you know where to find me...

pearl jam -- the fixer

yeah, hey, hey
when something's dark, let me shed a little light on it
if something's cold, i want to put a little fire on it
if something's old, i want to put a little shine on it
if something's gone, i want to fight to get it back again

yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, fight to get it back again
yeah, yeah, hey, yeah, yeah

when something's broke, i want to put a little fixin' on it
if something's bored, i want to put a little exciting on it
when something's low, i want to put a little high on it
if something's lost, i want to fight to get it back again

yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, fight to get it back again
yeah, yeah, hey, yeah, yeah

when signals cross, i want to put a little straight on it
if there's no love, i want to try to love again

i'll say your prayers, i'll take your side
i'll find us a way to make light
i'll dig your grave, we'll dance and sing
what's saved could be one last lifetime

hey, hey, hey
yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, fight to get it back again
yeah, yeah, hey, yeah, yeah, fight to get it back again
yeah, yeah, yeah, fight to get it back again
hey, yeah, hey, yeah, yeah
yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah

but i knew exactly where i was...

how could i forget that i am home - with the boys! i really needed to change my attitude toward this forced sequestration that is our #stay...
